Research

First, do some research on what you need and want in a motorhome in general, including features, layouts, and sizes. You’ll also want to research brands and, if you find a model you like, research that as well. Some motorhomes hold up better than others!

Ask Questions

When you find a used motorhome you’re interested in, make sure to ask the dealer any and every question you can think of. At the very least, ask about the maintenance history and logs, whether any parts have been replaced, how much mileage it has, and if there’s any maintenance coming up.

Inspection

If you get the answers you’re looking for, your next step is to inspect the motorhome. First look over the exterior for signs of damage, corrosion, or collisions. Next, look through the living space and check for any signs of mold, mildew, rot, or pests. You should also check to make sure all appliances and controls are working properly and without sticking. If possible, ask to take it for a test drive to make sure it runs the way you want.
